Publish Your Website Without Breaking Anything
A drop-in AI skill that commits, pushes, and deploys your static site the safe way: add and update only, never overwrite what is already live.

It commits and pushes your static website to GitHub with safety rails: it fetches the current live state first, only adds or updates files, never force pushes, and confirms the real push result before saying it is done.
Any AI assistant that can read a SKILL.md file and run shell git commands (Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex). No separate app, no subscription, and no API key: it uses the GitHub access you already have on your machine.
Works with
Publishing a website should not feel like a gamble. Publish Site is an AI skill that handles the whole deploy for you: it commits your changes, resolves GitHub authentication, and runs the git push safely so your live site stays intact. Instead of a bare git push command that can overwrite work or wipe files someone else already deployed, this skill fetches the current GitHub state first, stages only what changed, refuses to force push, and merges instead of clobbering when the remote has moved ahead. Whether you host a static site on GitHub Pages or serve it through a connected pipeline, you drop the SKILL.md into your assistant, point it at your site folder, and it deploys website updates end to end while showing you exactly what it will publish before anything goes out.
- Deploy your website in one request instead of remembering the exact git commit and push steps every time
- Never overwrite the live site: the skill only adds and updates files, and refuses to delete anything already on GitHub
- Zero accidental force pushes; if the remote moved ahead, it merges and preserves both sides instead of clobbering
- See a clear destination block (repo, branch, public link, and exact pages) and approve it before anything is published
- Skip the authentication headaches: it detects the right GitHub account and configures git to push to the correct repo
- Get a truthful result: it confirms the real push output and reports the exact error if a deploy fails, never a fake success
- 1Drop the skill into your assistant
Add the SKILL.md file to Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex. There is nothing to install and no account to create: the skill runs with the git and GitHub access already on your machine.
- 2Point it at your site folder
Tell it which website you want to publish and, ideally, which files you changed. It locates the folder and the target repository, and it works even when the local .git metadata is missing by adopting the correct repo without downloading over or deleting your working files.
- 3Review a safe preview
It runs a dry run first: a full preview of what will change, showing that zero files on GitHub will be deleted. You see the repo, branch, public link, and the exact pages before you commit to anything.
- 4Approve the destination
Before it pushes, it echoes a plain destination block (client or project, repository, branch, live link, and the pages going out) and waits for your go-ahead, so nothing is ever published to the wrong place.
- 5It commits and authenticates
It stages only the changed files, writes a clear one-line commit message, and sorts out GitHub authentication so the push lands in the right repository under the right account.
- 6It pushes safely, merging if needed
It pushes with add and update only. If the remote is ahead because someone else deployed first, it fetches, merges to preserve both sides, and never force pushes without your explicit approval.
- 7You get a confirmed deploy
It verifies the real push output (the exact old-to-new commit range) and reports success only when the push truly landed. If anything blocks it, you get the literal error and the next step, never a false all-clear.
- A committed change with a clear, human-readable commit message
- A safe push to your GitHub repository (add and update only, no deletions, no force push)
- A dry-run preview showing every file that will change and confirming nothing live gets removed
- A destination summary: repository, branch, public link, and the exact pages being published
- A merge that preserves both your work and any newer remote commits when the branch has moved ahead
- A confirmed status report with the real commit range, or the literal error and next step if a deploy is blocked
Single page or full update
Publish just the one page you touched by scoping to the files you changed, or push a larger set of updates at once. Either way it only adds and updates, so the rest of the live site is left untouched.
Recover from a blocked push
When a push is rejected because the remote is ahead or the repository was moved, the skill diagnoses the cause, shows you the conflicting files and options, and helps you merge and republish without losing anyone's work.

What does the Publish Site skill actually do?
It deploys your static website to GitHub for you. It commits your changes, handles GitHub authentication, and runs the push safely: it fetches the current live state first, adds and updates only, never force pushes, merges instead of overwriting when the remote is ahead, and confirms the real push result before reporting success.
Does it work with Claude, Cursor, and Codex?
Yes. It is a SKILL.md file that works with any AI assistant that reads skills and can run shell commands, including Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex. The safe deploy flow is the same across all of them.
Do I need to install anything or pay for an API key?
No. There is no separate app, no subscription, and no API key. You drop the SKILL.md into your assistant and it uses the git and GitHub access already set up on your computer.
Will it overwrite my live site or delete files?
No. It is add and update only. Any file that would be removed is unstaged, so nothing already on GitHub is deleted, and it never force pushes. If the remote has newer commits, it merges to preserve both sides rather than clobbering them.
What if my push gets rejected or the repository was moved?
It handles that. If the push is rejected because the remote is ahead, it fetches and merges while keeping both your work and the newer commits. If the repository was transferred or the account is wrong, it diagnoses the cause and points you to the fix instead of silently failing.
Do I need coding or git experience to use it?
No. You describe the website you want to publish in plain language and approve the destination it shows you. The skill runs the git commit and push, the authentication, and any merge on its own, so you do not need to know the commands.
An AI skill is a small, reusable instruction file (a SKILL.md) that teaches an AI assistant to do one job well. Publish Site is exactly that: a Claude skill / AI agent skill you drop into your own assistant and run on demand, with no app, no subscription and no lock-in. You own the file forever.
It runs in Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and any assistant that reads a SKILL.md or a system prompt. Because it is just text, it is fully portable, and if it needs something to run, publish site asks you for it first instead of inventing.
Creators reach for it as a podcast clips AI and an AI podcast clip generator, to turn a podcast into Shorts and to pull podcast highlights automatically, finding the best podcast moments without scrubbing the whole episode.
