Security Audit is a drop-in skill that turns your AI assistant into a methodical secure code reviewer for any project, whether it was hand-built or vibe coded. Instead of a single vague scan, it walks your codebase part by part (secrets and tokens, authentication and authorization, database rules, injections, payments, rate limits, uploads, deployment, and more), detecting real vulnerabilities and citing the exact file and line as evidence. It never invents a finding, never prints a secret in the clear, and asks before it touches anything irreversible. For each issue it writes a targeted fix, applies it surgically, then re-reviews to confirm the flaw is gone and nothing broke. You get a living audit document you can trust, and a project that is only marked safe for production when there is genuinely nothing critical or high left open.

What you gain
  • Catch real vulnerabilities before they reach production, each backed by evidence (file and line), not guesswork
  • Get issues fixed, not just flagged: it writes and applies a surgical patch, then re-checks it worked
  • Cover the whole attack surface with a prioritized, part-by-part method that puts the most explosive risks first
  • Keep a living audit trail you can hand to a client, an investor, or your own team as proof of due diligence
  • Protect your secrets: keys and tokens are always masked, and a leaked key triggers a clear rotation instruction
  • Trust the verdict: it only declares your app safe for production when nothing critical or high remains open
How it works, step by step
  • 1
Drop the skill into your AI assistant

Add the SKILL.md file to Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex. No install, no account, no API key. Point it at your project and ask it to audit your security.

  • 2
    It detects your stack first

Before touching anything, it reads your project files to identify the language, framework, database or backend, payment provider, and hosting, then decides which parts of the checklist actually apply to you.

  • 3
It audits part by part, worst risk first

It works through each area in priority order (secrets and tokens, auth and access control, database rules, injections, payments, rate limits, uploads, deployment) and reports every finding with the exact file, line, and severity.

  • 4
    It fixes each issue surgically

For every finding it writes a targeted fix using the libraries your project already has, edits only the affected code, and never rewrites whole files. Anything irreversible or that touches production is shown to you and waits for your approval first.

  • 5
It re-reviews in a loop until clean

After each fix it runs the same review again to confirm the vulnerability is gone and nothing broke, repeating until that area has zero critical or high issues.

  • 6
It runs a full final review

Once every applicable area is covered, it runs a complete pass over the whole project and builds an item-by-item status table (pass, fail, or not applicable).

  • 7
You get an honest verdict and a living record

It only marks the app safe for production when nothing critical or high is open. If something remains, it tells you exactly what, why, and how severe, with no maquillage.

What it generates
  • A living audit document that logs every review, finding, fix, and approval as the work happens
  • A per-area scorecard with status and a count of findings by severity (critical, high, medium, low)
  • A vulnerability checklist where each item is marked done only after the fix is applied and approved
  • A prioritized list of findings, each with the exact file, line, and risk explained
  • A final full-review status table (pass, fail, or not applicable) with a clear production verdict
  • Ready-to-copy review and fix prompts for any single area, so you can run pieces yourself
Variations

Full sweep before launch

Ask it to audit the whole app and it covers every applicable area end to end, then delivers the final review and a go or no-go verdict for production.

Single-area deep dive

Point it at just one concern (your secrets, your database access rules, your payment webhook, or your deployment config) and it audits, fixes, and re-checks only that part.

Prompts only, you drive

If you would rather run it in your own editor, ask for the review and fix prompts for a specific area and it hands them over ready to paste, without touching your code.

FAQ
What is the Security Audit skill?

It is a SKILL.md file you add to your AI assistant that turns it into a methodical secure code reviewer. It audits your project part by part, finds real vulnerabilities with the exact file and line, fixes them, and re-checks until nothing critical or high is left open.

Does it work with Claude, Cursor, and Codex?

Yes. It runs in any AI assistant that reads a SKILL.md file, including Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex. You use whichever one you already work in.

Do I need to install anything or get an API key?

No. You drop in one file. There is no separate app to install, no account to create, and no API key. It uses the AI assistant you already have.

What kinds of projects and vulnerabilities does it cover?

It works on almost any stack, from Next.js and Node to React Native, Python, and PHP, whether hand-built or vibe coded. It covers exposed secrets and tokens, broken authentication and access control (including IDOR), database rules, SQL and prompt injection, payment webhooks, rate limits, file uploads, deployment hardening, and common issues from the OWASP top 10.

Will it change my code, and is that safe?

It fixes issues by editing only the affected code, never rewriting whole files, and using the libraries your project already has. Anything irreversible or that touches production (like rotating a key or changing live rules) is shown to you and waits for your explicit approval first.

Do I need to be a security expert or a coder to use it?

No. You point it at your project and ask in plain language. It detects your stack, does the work, explains each finding in context, and asks before anything risky. You stay in control without needing to know the checklist yourself.

New to AI skills?

An AI skill is a small, reusable instruction file (a SKILL.md) that teaches an AI assistant to do one job well. Security Audit is exactly that: a Claude skill / AI agent skill you drop into your own assistant and run on demand, with no app, no subscription and no lock-in. You own the file forever.

It runs in Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and any assistant that reads a SKILL.md or a system prompt. Because it is just text, it is fully portable, and if it needs something to run, security audit asks you for it first instead of inventing.

Creators reach for it as a podcast clips AI and an AI podcast clip generator, to turn a podcast into Shorts and to pull podcast highlights automatically, finding the best podcast moments without scrubbing the whole episode.

How to install and run it
  1. Download the file after checkout you get the SKILL.md plus a short README and your license.
  2. Add it to your AI drop SKILL.md into your skills folder (for example .claude/skills/) or paste its contents as a custom instruction.
  3. Run it ask your AI to use Security Audit, give it what it asks for, and it does the work.
